Faith in Book Art....

Well it has been a long time since I posted. All sorts of reasons, busy with charity fundraising, illness, work and general life. We all have the same sort of stuff going on......

Recently I have seen so many pictures being shared of folded pages book art and must say I really liked them. They looked so difficult and never thought it would be something I would do but decided to give it a go. I really wanted to know how to do it and whether I could actually do it......

The reality is it is very easy to do once you have the pattern. The challenge for me is the monotonous nature of it but as the letters form it is a great feeling.

The pattern I used was from a Debbi Moore CD and the person I made this for his faith means a lot to him and he works in the police force hence the reason for a couple of the embelishments.

To decorate the cover I painted 2 coats of black gesso then 1 coat of black acrylic paint so that it had a little bit of a sheen.  I then stamped with versamark and used mica powder, silver on the text then gold on the crackle.  I then used Pebeo gold gilding wax. My first time using the gilding wax which I think you can tell. I wanted to get an aged feel which I feel I accomplished around the edges, I struggled a little blending it across the cover...

I am very proud of this piece of art. It's my first ever attempt and I think I did very well considering I have been poorly adn could only do for up to 30 minutes at a time.......

Will definitely do again at some point....... If you have been thinking of having a go I say do it!

Thanks for stopping by xXx
